Essential Skills and Attributes for a Music Career
One of the best things you can do for your career is to prioritize developing the necessary and indispensable skills. If you think you will not get bored, you can spend a long time at university developing skills, or you can develop the basic skills and enter musical life, saying that the caravan will get organized along the way. The skills I call indispensable for music are:
- Basic Instrument Skill (Basic String Instruments, Basic Singing, etc.)
- Instrument Skill (Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Lead Vocals, etc.)
- Second Basic Instrument Skill or Basic Dancing
- Second Instrument Skill or Professional Dancing
- Basic Composing
- Basic Poetry
- Specialized Composing Skill (Composing Catchy Music, Composing Folk Songs, etc.)
- Music Genre Skill (Modern Rock, Jazz, etc.)
- Basic Acting
- Basic Sex Appeal
- Basic Media Management
Optional or lower-priority ones:
- Basic Makeup
- Public Relations
- Public Speaking
- Mastery of Mentoring
- Basic Yoga or Martial Arts
- Advanced Yoga or Martial Arts Masteries (Aikido, Juijutsu, etc.)
The skills used in stage tricks will be discussed in detail in the tricks section. In short, if you are going to perform tricks on stage, depending on the situation:
- Basic Showmanship
- Professional Showmanship
- Relevant Trick Skills
They can be divided into these three parts. Developing the skills in the first part will make you a band member who can write songs and get full performance on stage even if you cannot perform tricks.
