Media Power
Media Power — Music Guide
Concerts alone can raise your city fame only to a certain level. To have higher fame and hold on at those levels, you should support your fame by increasing media power. Because media power affects your city fame, it indirectly makes a great contribution to your career.
The factors increasing media power are:
- Talking to the media
- Giving concerts
- Radio charts
- Television shows (applies only to the city where the show takes place)
- Release parties
- Trashing the hotel when leaving a city
The most effective way to increase media power is talking to the media. After you establish a routine for your career, most of your time on tour will be spent talking to the media. The increases your band receives from talking to the media depend on the number of members in your band, how developed the members’ media-related skills are, and current media power. As the number of members increases, the increase received per person in one update decreases. Likewise, as your media power increases, the amount of increase per update decreases. This also applies to other factors affecting media power.
The skills affecting talking to the media are:
- Basic Media Management
- Public Speaking
- Professional Public Relations
- Mentoring
Apart from these skills, there are a few other skills thought to have an effect, such as basic comedy; because their effects are not cumulative, you do not need them when you have these skills.
The media power increase from concerts depends both on media power and on when you last gave a concert in that city. The shorter the time between two concerts, the smaller the increase received. Your media power tends to decline over time. Therefore, increases from radio charts and release parties become very important during periods when you have no concert in that city.
